Bringing PLAY-DOH to life!

The new PLAY-DOH TOUCH SHAPE TO LIFE STUDIO and App are bringing your Play-Doh creations to life.

Play-Doh has been a crafty favourite for ever, sixty years to be exact! Kids (and adults) love playing with this coloured dough and creating all types of Play-doh masterpieces. But what if you could bring those creations to life? Well now you can with the amazing Play-Doh Touch Shape To Life Studio and App.

Play-doh Touch

First things first, what’s in the box?

When you open up the box, which is actually a convenient carry-case type box with a handle, you will find the Shape to Life studio which is a star shaped plastic workspace. There is also five digital character stampers, five digital action stampers, four tools, fifteen shape cutters, and of course seven tubs of Play-Doh. Also included is a brief instruction sheet.

To get started you’ll need to download the app.

Before you start creating you will need to download the free Play-Doh Touch app. Although the app is free there are in-app purchases available where you can buy new worlds and other add-ons – at a cost.

Play-Doh Touch App

So let’s get creating!

So you’ve downloaded the Play-Doh Touch app, now it’s time to shape a Play-Doh creation and place it on the Shape to Life Studio and scan it with your tablet or smartphone.

The creation will come to life on screen, ready to explore!

You can use the character stampers that will unlock their own unique worlds and personalities when scanned into the app. You can action stampers that are located around the star-shaped workspace are used to interact with the creatures in your worlds. For example the red music stamper will make your creation sing.

Keep shaping and scanning more creations with the cutters and tools to customize and enhance the world. Once you’re done save your creatures in the app to play another day.

Have a look at the video below that my kids made showing one of their creations coming to life.

It’s actually quite amazing to watch the characters come to life on screen. I would suggest that this app is great for ages 3-7 as older kids may not be as engaged after the initial ‘coming to life’ excitement. My 6 year old and 11 year old really enjoyed playing with the Play-Doh Touch Shape to Life Studio, and they both wanted to make creature after creature to see them come to life in their worlds.

“It was fun because I love Play-Doh anyway and this took it to the next level” Miss J, 11 years old

“I liked all the animals you could make alive” Little L, 6 years old

PLAY-DOH Touch SHAPE TO LIFE STUDIO is $32.99 and is a great idea for keeping the kids amused during the fast approaching Easter School holidays – and it won’t break the budget!

We all had a great time playing and creating with the Play-Doh Touch. It was great to see all the kids crazy characters come to life and interact in their worlds.
