Omo & Jif – Tried and tested

My washing is never ending.

I leave the house around 7.45 am most week days and I return home, after a visit to the gym, sometime around 7.45 pm. Before and after work is chaos. Mornings are mayhem full of kids getting ready for school and daycare followed in the evening with a similar type of craziness – after school activities, homework, bath and cooking dinner etc etc. Oh and the urgent announcement at 9 pm from one or more children informing you they need some really obscure – and totally unobtainable  – object for school tomorrow….you get the idea. My (wonderful) husband deals with most of this morning and evening chaos as the official ‘kid taxi’ whilst I brave public transport to and from work.

This could be my laundry....mmm actually it is my laundry - eek

This could be my laundry….mmm actually it is my laundry – eek. P.S It doesn’t always look like this 🙂

So the short story….my house gets cleaned and my washing gets done when ever me or my husband have a spare moment – maybe on the weekend – and only then what we need to get through the week.

I’ve been trying out Omo Ultimate. First impressions – it smells great! The kids were coming up to me for a cuddle or something and I would get this whaft of ‘clean smell’. I usually use the cheaper variety of washing powder and the clothes never have a lingering smell as strong as this. In the afternoon I will change into my gym clothes that I have neatly packed in a bag and taken to work. I open the bag and ‘whaft’ – ahhh that smell.

So does it work? Is it any better than the cheaper stuff? Well, yes. I’m going to sound like an ad but the clothes do come out cleaner and brighter. I took a photo of my ten year old’s dirty sock. He wears them like shoes so they get pretty filthy. Below is a before and after shot which shows a noticeably cleaner sock. I didn’t treat it with any pre-wash stuff and it was just shoved in the load like everything else. Pretty good I thought?

Omo Ultimate claims to lift stains that have been dried for 48 hours which it clearly did on these socks. Although it’s one of the more expensive detergents ($12.99 each 1L) it is truly worth it.

I rate Omo Ultimate 9.5 out of 10.

I’ve also been trying out Jif Easy Lift for the Bathroom. You just can’t beat quality can you? I really like that the Jif sprays out thick (not watery). My usual cleaner gets sprayed in the bath and runs down the drain before I get to clean anything.

Jif works quickly, you just spray it on wait a couple of minutes and wipe. It’s easy, quick and doesn’t leave any streaky marks. Best of all it cleans perfectly. Check out my before and after shot of my bath – speaks for itself. I give Jif a big 9.5 out of 10 (I never like to give perfect scores but both the Omo and Jif were close).

With four school aged grommets, my boot camp gear, and hubby being a plain grot when he’s been working on the cars, this would be FANTASTIC for keeping the clothes pristine, and make the bathroom NOT look like a flood has been through it!

It would be amazing to be able to get rid of the stubborn stains that linger due to little ones that create those messes in the home. It would mean quality products will reduce time cleaning in order to spend more time with family!

Well, with three kids aged 10 and under
The laundry’s a nightmare, is it any wonder?!
So, the Omo I’d use to get out the stains
Often found on their garments, they can be such pains!
And the Jif would be handy for this clean-freak mum
To tackle the bathroom mess and soap scum!
