Power of conversation

Sometimes life is a struggle, sometimes it’s a breeze.

I have ups and downs like everyone. The exhaustion of working full time, raising three kids, being a wife, running a household and money worries, (just to name a few).

I get overwhelmed and sometimes I lose perspective.

I feel like it’s all too much, too hard. But I persist, I climb out of the hole. This is a hole many people live in everyday and sadly see no escape.

How do I cope? How do I pull myself out of those times where I feel so overwhelmed that I can’t see or think clearly?

Conversation.

I call my mum. My mum is my confidant, my rock and my reason. Our chats have saved my marriage, saved my career and saved my sanity. She puts things in perspective and most importantly she listens without judgement. {xx love u mum 🙂 xx}

Social media has changed the way we communicate. According to a survey of 1000 Australians, nearly four out of five believe social media and technology are causing us to lose the art of conversation. What’s really interesting is that nine out of ten Aussies surveyed said they feel genuinely cared about when they get a phone call from a loved one.

Richard Branson R U OK?

Tomorrow is R U OK? Day and I want you to pick up the phone and call someone.

R U OK? aims to prevent suicide by encouraging people to have regular, meaningful conversations throughout the year to help anyone who might be struggling with life.

This year Virgin Mobile has joined forces with R U OK? to encourage Aussies to have more conversations that count, signing on as the not-for-profit’s official ‘conversation partner’. To find out more how Virgin Mobile will be helping inspire people to start a conversation, visit: makingmobilebetter.com.au.

Virgin will be supporting the cause by offering their customers free calls within Australia.

Sir Richard Branson, Founder, Virgin Group, has also backed the campaign and recorded a video message for all Australians about the importance of conversation, encouraging them to reach out to loved ones this R U OK?Day.
