The Dyson Cinetic DC41 Animal – Another powerful machine from Dyson.

Dyson DC41 Animal

This machine has so much going on I felt a bit like Inspector Gadget using it. The DC41 Animal is an upright machine featuring the Dyson Ball (that looks like something out of Robocop – see image below).

When you open up the box you’ll find:

  • the DC41
  • 2 year guarantee
  • Tangle free turbine tool
  • User guide
  • Quick start guide
  • Product registration card
  • Combination accessory tool
  • Stair tool
  • Combination floor tool

The DC41 is really easy to manoeuvre, and the machine is super powerful – as you would expect from a Dyson. Dyson have done a lot of testing to understand maneuverability and it’s paid off because there is no trouble steering this baby around the house.

I am so in love with my Dyson stick (DC59) vacuum cleaner, which is really light. The weight of the DC41 was a bit of a shock – it weighs 7.8kgs. It’s not overly heavy, but it wouldn’t be a vacuum cleaner I would recommend for someone older/elderly. It’s also quite big.

A neat feature of the DC41 is the self adjusting base for different floor types – carpet, hard floors etc. We mainly have carpet so it wasn’t really an issue for me but if your house has a mixture of floor boards, carpets and tiles etc you will really appreciate this.

Dyson DC41 Cleaner Head

Dyson have created a cleaner head that has less gap between it and the floor thus increasing suction. True to their word the DC41 never loses suction. This is also due to the Radial Cyclone technology used in the Dyson DC41.

Another nifty feature of the Dyson DC41 is the ‘instant wand’ – the tube comes off and extends, and it extends a loooong way. This is great for all the add-ons you can use including the Tangle-Free Turbine Tool. This snazzy little tool doesn’t have a brush bar (you know the one you usually have to pick all the hair out of!). This tool worked a treat on my lounge and my husband used it in the car.

One little thing (and it’s only little) – the instructions/user manual etc are all pretty simple. I would prefer a little more info, but that’s me. People may say it’s just a vacuum cleaner but if I’m spending $949 I would like to know I’m getting the most out of it and using all the add-ons correctly. Just a little thing 🙂

I gave the Dyson DC41 Animal an overall score of 4.

For Power I gave the machine a 5. Really you can’t beat a Dyson for power, suction and cleaning.

For Ease of Use I gave the machine a 4. Whilst this machine is really easy to steer I took a point off for the power cord. I’ve been spoilt with my cordless DC59 stick vacuum and I hated plugging this machine in and rolling up the cord.

For Size/Weight I gave the machine a 3. It is pretty heavy (7.8 kgs) and it’s also on the big side. This also affects storage.

For Price I gave the machine 3.5. It’s a little pricey…. but worth it I suppose:)

For Add-ons I gave the machine a 4. The Tangle-free Turbine Tool is fab. This would have been a 5 but as I said above the instructions aren’t that great and this can leave you wondering if you’re using it correctly and getting the most out of your machine.

The Dyson DC41 retails dor $949 and you can get more information at www.dyson.com.au
