Vtech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX

Vtech Smart watch

If you’re looking for a smart watch for the kids then check out the VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX.

This watch is pretty awesome, rarely do I get a product to review where I struggle to find any negatives. This watch can do almost anything and will rival any ‘grown-up’ smart watch out there, in fact I was showing this watch to some friends who were rather jealous of all the features, and at least one thought he’d prefer the VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX instead of his (grown up style) fitness tracker!

The VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX looks like a kids version of an Apple Watch and comes in two colours – blue or pink. It’s perfect for kids between the ages of 4-9 years and is splash and sweat proof and is made to be durable. Little L (who is 6) wear’s his VTech most places however I will get him to take his watch off before going to the beach and getting the bath.

So what’s in the box

The VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX comes in a pretty fancy package and almost looks like an award! The top of the package holds the watch and in the base of the package you will find the instruction booklet and micro USB cable for recharging and downloading (you can download content form the Learning Lodge, which I talk about further on).

Below is a quick video I did which shows you a little bit about the Vtech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX.

So many great features

The VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX is packed with features. Some of my favourites (as a parent) include:

  • the Fun Time Master feature which helps kids learn to tell the time
  • the pedometer
  • the increased memory capacity to hold all those photos and videos!
  • touch screen for easy use

I’m also a big fan of the rechargeable battery which is a huge cost saving with these types of kids toys. I also like the durable design and that it’s made tough for active young kids. There are 50 different clock displays to choose from plus different wall papers so you can customise your watch.

Little L loves the games, photo and video function and being able to add frames, effects and filters to his masterpieces! He also love the pedometer and the action challenges.

The VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX has a heap of features that both kids and parents will love, here’s a list of the main ones:

  • Durable smartwatch with large memory
  • Takes photos and videos
  • Add frames to photos right on the screen
  • Choose from over 50 clock displays
  • Three action challenges tracked with the motion sensors
  • Eight built-in games and access to more on the Learning Lodge
  • Alarm, timer, stopwatch, calendar and calculator functions
  • Sweat- and splash-proof design
  • Recharge the lithium-ion battery using the included micro USB cable

Keep kids amused on the go!

The VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX was a godsend during our travels during the recent school holidays and kept all the kids entertained at some point during the long car rides. There’s eight games already loaded onto the Smartwatch DX but you can get more content by connecting to the Learning Lodge. Learning Lodge can be downloaded onto your Mac or PC and is VTech’s comprehensive app store, which features a library of games, e-Books, music and videos with engaging age-appropriate content across the widest variety of curricula.

Learning Lodge will keep all your VTech toys together and shows the learning progress of your child.

I love the VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX, it’s packed with features that are fun and educational.

“I like because you can take pictures and play games and because you can choose whatever time picture you want …and the games are really fun” Little L, 6 years old
