I am a serious coffee drinker. In fact I cannot start the day (effectively) without one. Even though I love my coffee I also have a love for tea, in particular herbal tea.

Around 15 years ago I started drinking herbal teas for ailments, rather than taste or enjoyment. That sounds a little harsh but many of the herbal teas I was drinking were not very tasty.  I had a little blend that I would get from a local health food shop. It was a “sleepy time” blend and had valerian in it. Anyone who has smelt valerian would know it’s a bit stenchy and the tea wasn’t that flavoursome (I am being kind, it was disgusting), but it did the job and gave me a restful sleep.

These days herbal tea blends seem to be more popular, mainstream and a hell of a lot tastier 🙂 This is true of the new Beaming With Health range of herbal teas from Mim Beim.

Mim Beim is a well respected naturopath with a huge amount of experience in all areas of natural medicine. She has clinics in Bowral and Sydney and has written a swag of books. You might have seen my review of her latest book  Natural Remedies.

I have been trying out the Lemon Myrtle blend which as the name suggests is a blend of lemon myrtle, lemongrass, licorice, ginger and blue cornflours. It has become my afternoon tea of choice.

It tastes divine and is really refreshing.

The Lemon Myrtle tea is helpful for improving immunity and digestion and I find it gives me a little afternoon ‘pick me up’ because its also good for restoring equilibrium. There are many blends to choose from, whether you have jet lag or want a bit more regularity (if you know what I mean) there is a tea blend for you.

The teas are available as loose or silk pyramid tea bags and start at $9.99 for 12 teabags. You can also get the loose tea or teabags in a lovely cannister (20 tea bags/ 20 loose cups) for $19.95 The cannisters would make a great Christmas present for any tea lover 🙂
